Tellabs has secured a deal to power a new converged services network operated by Broadwing Communications LLC.

Under the agreement, Broadwing will use the MPLS-based Tellabs MultiservicePLuS platform, which features Tellabs' 8800-series routers, to offer Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPN services to commercial customers. Broadwing's new architecture, slated for a Q2 2005 launch, is designed to help the company migrate and merge a range of legacy and new WAN infrastructures, including private line, frame relay, ATM, Ethernet and IP.
