Softel-USA, a maker of "carousel" interactive television (iTV) technology, has launched a program that aims to bring together providers of various interactive platforms, including the OpenCable Application Platform (OCAP).
The MediaSphere Alliance Program will enable members to test and certify applications on the company's MediaSphere Lab platform, which simulates "real-world" broadcast playout.
"Softel-USA is committed to enabling our clients to choose best-of-breed technologies throughout the value chain, with the confidence that they will integrate seamlessly," said Softel-USA President & CEO Sam Pemberton, in a statement
Softel, which is breaking into the U.S. market, has technology partnerships with programmers such as Canadian Broadcasting Company, Starz Encore Group and Turner Entertainment Networks. The company said Alliance memberships cost $7,500 per quarter.
Softel has added six members to the program so far, but is not yet releasing names, a company spokeswoman said.
