The launch of another SES Americom satellite will give EchoStar Communications Corp. a boost in its national and spot-beam capacity.

The Americom 16 bird lifted off from Cape Canaveral in December and successfully gained a geostationary orbit at 82 degrees West. It carries a hybrid Ku- and Ka-band transponder payload to support high-speed data transmission and digital video for EchoStar, starting in the first quarter of 2005.
