Comcast Cable has gone official with its launch of video-on-demand in Dallas, serving up more than 1,200 hours of programming to nearly 300,000 customers.

The service features traditional pay-per-view hits, older library titles, premium programming from HBO, Showtime, Cinemax and Starz!, and a bevy of "free" content from networks such as Anime Network, Court TV, Food Network and NFL Network, among others.

In Dallas, Comcast also offers the ON DEMAND en espanol companion service, which provides more than 100 hours of programming from Cine Latino, Discovery en Espanol, Musica, and Gol TV.

Comcast's Dallas system uses VOD servers and backoffice software from SeaChange International.
