Net2Phone Inc. sealed another deal to roll out Voice-over-IP with a U.S. cable partner, inking a multi-year production agreement with Bresnan Communications to provide service starting in the first quarter of 2005.
The deal solidifies a prior letter of intent Bresnan signed with Net2Phone in May to tap the turnkey VoIP service for its digital telephony roll out covering more than 500,000 homes passed with 300,000 cable subs in parts of Colorado, Montana, Wyoming and Utah. Under the agreement, the service will carry the Bresnan brand, with Net2Phone serving as the PacketCable integrator in charge of operations and deployment as well as round-the-clock technical support. Net2Phone also will track voice quality and network performance, providing Bresnan with a full report of overall voice traffic.
The Net2Phone service will offer multiple features as well as e-911 and CALEA wiretapping capabilities.
Bresnan also has enrolled in Net2Phone's warrant incentive program, offering cable operators who earn certain warrant grants a chance to buy shares of the company stock. The stock can be exercised as the cabler reaches certain target subscriber levels.
"We are eagerly anticipating the launch of our digital phone service alongside our video and data products," stated Lenny Higgins, Bresnan's senior vice president of advanced services.
