EchoStar Communications has scored a service bundling deal with Commonwealth Telephone Enterprises Inc. (CTE), a telco that serves a spate of rural markets in Pennsylvania.
Under the deal, CTE will offer DISH Network services alongside its own voice and DSL offerings to customers in its existing footprint. The companies said it plans to launch a range of bundled digital video packages in the first quarter of next year.
CTE ended the third quarter with 475,296 installed switched access lines.
The EchoStar alliance "puts the last piece of the 'triple play' - voice, video, and data - in place for us, and further strengthens our position in the markets we serve," said DG Gulati, CTE's SVP, corporate development, in a statement.
EchoStar recently announced plans to scuttle a co-marketing deal with Qwest Communications International, but has managed to score DBS bundling deals with CenturyTel and SBC Communications.
