Bright House Networks said it will deploy servers and software from nCUBE Corp. to power a video-on-demand deployment in Detroit, Mich.
"We believe that in order to grow on-demand services seamlessly, it's critical to have a flexible platform to meet the demands of this competitive marketplace," said Jeff Chen, vice president, advanced technology for Advance/Newhouse Communications, which operates Bright House.
Earlier this month, Bright House announced it was deploying BigBand Networks' Broadband Multimedia-Service Edge 50 gear to support VOD in Detroit.
The deployment in Detroit extends Bright House's multi-vendor strategy, and makes nCUBE the MSO's third supplier of primary VOD equipment and software. Bright House also uses SeaChange International gear in two markets (Bakersfield, Calif. and Birmingham, Ala.) and Concurrent Computer Corp. equipment in three areas (Indianapolis, Ind.; and Orlando and Tampa Bay, Fla.).
