Level 3 Communications Inc. has begun offering IP voice termination services internationally, adding yet another arrow in Level 3's quiver of IP services.
The announcement builds on the company's recent introduction of (3)Tone, an enhanced business voice service that Level 3, through its subsidiary, Level 3 Enhanced Services, markets to local telephone companies, systems integrators, CLECs, and value-added resellers.
Also in September 2003, Level 3 introduced (3)VoIP Marketplace, a service that is designed to reduce communications costs for any business requiring a reliable local-calling infrastructure.
In December 2003, Level 3 significantly expanded its softswitch-based (3)Voice Termination service by enabling customers to hand off traffic directly to Level 3 using an IP interface, further lowering their fixed network costs and capital expenses. Level 3's expanded voice capability allows IP-to-IP interconnection with the Level 3 network at the high levels of security required for voice traffic.
