CableLabs ended certification wave 27 with a flurry, handing out passing grades for equipment based on DOCSIS, CableHome and PacketCable specifications.

CableLabs awarded DOCSIS 2.0 certification to modems from Cablerex, Cisco-Linksys and Terayon, and re-certified 2.0 modems from Motorola Broadband, Scientific-Atlanta, Thomson, Toshiba and Zyxel. CableLabs has now awarded DOCSIS 2.0 certification to 42 modems overall.

CableLabs also awarded DOCSIS 1.1 qualification to Cisco Systems' uBR7246VXR cable modem termination system (CMTS) during wave 27. Terayon Communication Systems will end the year as the only vendor to obtain DOCSIS 2.0 CMTS qualification.

CableLabs also awarded CableHome 1.0 certification to a cable modem gateway from Motorola Broadband, and re-certified gateways from Ambit, Netgear and Scientific-Atlanta.

On the PacketCable 1.0 front, CableLabs qualified a media gateway controller from Cisco Systems, and qualified call management servers from Cedar Point Communications, Cisco and Telcordia. S-A also received PacketCable 1.0 certification for a multimedia terminal adapter.

Looking ahead, CableLabs has set a January 30, 2004 submission deadline for applications, documents and equipment for certification wave 28. CableLabs is expected to share results from that wave on or around April 16.
