Software company Motive debuted its Business Class Manager, a software infrastructure designed to help service providers deliver enhanced business-class services to small and medium business (SMB) customers.
The new platform automates the configuration and problem management of high-speed access services and SMB network environments that would normally require manual effort and IT expertise.
Motive officials say the new software is designed to overcome various barriers to higher adoption and margins of SMB services. It will help cable MSOs and other providers differentiating high revenue SMB broadband offerings from less expensive residential services; lower high labor and operational costs incurred when resolving problems for their SMB customers' complex business environments; and overcome a lack of IT resources and expertise in small businesses.
"Small businesses continue to show an intense demand for broadband and are actively searching for better solutions. The key requirement for small businesses, even more than sheer speed, is the reliability and security of their broadband connection," said Michael Lauricella, program manager for the Yankee Group's Small & Medium Business Strategies service.
The solution offers automated configuration and problem management capabilities for devices like PCs and customer premises equipment, as well as products and services such as firewalls, Web hosting, IP VPNs, remote storage applications, and video conferencing.
