Bankrupt vendor Com21 Inc. has finalized a deal to license its DOCSIS cable modem technology to Taiwan-based firm CastleNet Technology Inc. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Com21, which hopes to have creditors approve a reorganization this fall and emerge from bankruptcy with a digital video equipment strategy, reached a deal last week to sell off its DOCSIS cable modem termination assets to Arris for $2.8 million.
The more recent agreement calls for CastleNet to pick up all licenses for Com21's DOCSIS and EuroDOCSIS cable modem technology. CastleNet said it will continue to sell those products under the Com21 brand in North America, Latin America and Europe.
"CastleNet has been a longtime strategic partner to Com21 and we are pleased they will continue to support and supply the industry with the DOXport XB DOCSIS cable modems," said Com21 CEO George Merrick, in a press release.
