EchoStar Communications will keep the heat on its cable competition this summer when it launches two high-definition television networks from Mark Cuban's HDNet service.
EchoStar, which announced the plans at the DBS provider's satellite TV retailer conference, said it will offer the flagship HDNet channel as well as HDNet Movies, but won't disclose pricing until this summer.
Consumers will need EchoStar's new "SuperDish" to receive programming from HDNet. EchoStar said it will leverage the new elliptical, 66-centimeter dish to beam up to 50 HD channels.
HDNet also has distribution deals with DirecTV and Charter Communications.
