Cable vet Dan Pike has joined Alaska-based General Communication Inc. as chief technology officer of the company's cable and entertainment division.
Pike most recently was CTO of Classic Communications, an MSO that emerged from bankruptcy in January. Before that, Pike worked for Prime Cable for 18 years.
Among his new duties, Pike will be responsible for the technology, design criteria and platform issues tied to GCI's ongoing cable telephony project. Pike also will head up deployment and business strategies for GCI efforts involving video-on-demand, high-definition television and personal video recording technologies.
