Intertainer has launched Film Marketplace, a video-on- demand channel that aims to goose the independent filmmaking marketplace.
Intertainer said it will offer the service via its intertainer.tv Web site, and allow filmmakers to submit short- and feature-length films and set their own prices for consumers. The filmmakers are required to pay a flat fee, based on the length of the film, to cover encoding, storage and streaming costs. In turn, they will receive 100 percent of the revenue generated by their work, Intertainer said.
Intertainer, which already is taking submissions, said it plans to launch the service later this summer.
Intertainer also provides on-demand content for Adelphia Communications in Cleveland, Ohio, as part of a recently completed system-wide agreement between the two companies. Intertainer also aggregates content for Comcast's VOD deployments in Cherry Hill, Monmouth County, Ocean and Tom's River, N.J.; and in Lower Merion and Willow Grove, Pa.; and for WINfirst's VOD service in Sacramento Calif.
