Static 2358, the interactive television gaming subsidiary of OpenTV, announced a new addition to its interactive games channel PlayJam-namely, advanced multi-player capability of the popular East End Arrows TV darts game. Starting this spring, viewers in Britain's 5.7 million digital satellite homes will be able to throw an interactive game of darts against a player down the hall, across the street, or across the country.
The multi-player capabilities are part of Static's upgrade of the PlayJam games channel, which has hosted more than 1.6 billion gamers so far.
In other OpenTV interactive news, the company announced new tools to bridge the gap between HTML-based Internet content and applications for interactive television. The new suite of OpenTV tools should help developers author interactive content and applications based on core middleware from the company.
