WorldGate redesigned a channel-based user interface for its iTV service, providing six new channels in categories arranged like a typical newspaper, the company says.
New channels include those with general news, focusing on local to international coverage. A sports category lists game scores, team stats, player updates and business deals, WorldGate says. The entertainment sector provides film, music and TV news, while a business category allows stock look-ups, economic and corporate news and other quotes. Lifestyle and shopping categories allow health, education and travel news, as well as local advertising capabilities and other features.
WorldGate also says the interface allows users to interact with up to 20 chat rooms and more than 20 single and multiplayer interactive games. Its iTV service takes a simple upgrade to basic digital cable service, it adds.
Finally, the interface design is an integrated solution for current-generation set-top boxes, the company says, and operates with such other applications as VOD, IPGs and enhanced TV.
The company says it used usage data and customer surveys to determine content for the redesign.
