A 46-year-old racetrack in Elkhart Lake, Wis., placed its bets on fiber optic speed with a network overhaul. Telecast Fiber Systems Inc. supplied modular video and audio fiber optic products for the Race America racetrack system.
The system made its debut when the racetrack used it during the Motorola 220 CART FedEx Championship Series race Aug. 19, when it broadcast signals from closed-circuit video cameras, internal networks, PA systems and 14 cameras around the course.
Telecast supplied its Viper II multiplexing systems, allowing TV networks to connect via plug-and-play coverage, it says. The systems also allow hardline communications between corner workers and race control.
The track also used Telecast's Adder 161 and TD161 multichannel audio multiplexers in the PA system.
