Comcast Business Communications has started wiring broadband service to tenants in its first Detroit location, a building on the city's West Fort Street.
CBC, a subsidiary of Comcast Corp., launched in February and has been expanding the service into Comcast's cable areas in the mid-Atlantic and Detroit areas. Plans for 2001 include Baltimore; Washington, D.C.; the Delaware area; Philadelphia; and Detroit, CBC spokeswoman Sherrie Walters says.
In the most recent deal, Comcast will supply a service package including high-speed Internet over Comcast's fiber network to a West Fort Street commercial building owned by Sterling Group. The deal also includes Web hosting and other data services, Comcast says.
The Detroit service will start within a few weeks, Walters says, and a September "lobby" event will inform tenants of what services are available.
