Cable execs from China are taking a crash course in the intricacies of conducting cable businesses internationally through a program jointly operated by The Cable Center, The University of Denver and Encore International.
The Chinese Executive Media Management Program aims to provide Chinese media execs "with a thorough understanding of international business standards, management skills and media know-how" needed for industry growth in China.
The program includes four weeks of study at DU and two weeks of hands-on training with media execs and regulators in New York, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles. Fellows include those from China's Ministry of Information Industries, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television and China Central Television.
An endowment from the Anna and John J. Sie Foundation funded the program, and Starz Encore Group Chair John J. Sie hosted a welcome dinner at his home, Cable Center says. Sie, a Chinese-American, is from Shanghai.
