Value-added services such as virtual private networking, voice-over-DSL, VOD and MPEG music will give the struggling DSL industry a shot in the arm, a new report says. The "Enabling Value-Added Services Over DSL Networks: Market Opportunities For Service Providers and Suppliers" report from Pioneer Consulting estimates that more than 16 million DSL customers will subscribe to more than 25 million value-added services in the U.S. by 2005. Subscriptions to these services could bring the DSL market as much as $15.8 billion to $26.6 billion in annual revenue, depending on service providers' pricing. Service offerings such as VPN are expected to lead the pack in terms of revenue and subscribers.
