Tektronix Inc. announced today that it acquired Adherent Systems Ltd. for an undisclosed amount.
Adherent will be combined with the Tektronix video business to provide solutions allowing the broadcast, telecom and computer industries to deploy MPEG technology for storage and transmission of video over broadband networks, including the Internet, Tektronix reports.
"MPEG is a fundamental technology for the transmission of digital video and this acquisition expands Tektronix's tool that enable the quality control and management of video content as it is created, manipulated and distributed through any communications network," said President and CEO Rick Wills.
In a conference call this morning, Bob Agnes, VP of the company's video business unit, referred to the partnership as a "one-stop shop for all video test needs from RF … to MPEG analysis." Agnes was in Cambridge, England, where Adherent is located.
A Tektronix spokeswoman told CEDaily that no financial terms were being disclosed.
