RealNetworks Inc. has picked up partners for a couple of key projects.
The multimedia software maker teamed with nCUBE in a deal that lets nCUBE's n4 broadband streaming media solutions support RealVideo 8 and RealAudio 8.
The deal targets DSL, cable modem network and broadband providers, and lets broadband providers simultaneously deliver streaming media to thousands of customers on a single n4 server, the companies report.
Likewise, RealNetworks and Macromedia Inc. combined RealNetworks' codec tech and Macromedia's Web authoring products, and came up with multimedia authoring tools. The product allows streaming media on customers' sites, the companies report.
The two companies integrated support for RealAudio 8 and RealVideo 8 in Macromedia Director 8.5 Shockwave Studio and Dreamweaver 4, letting content creators use RealAudio 8 and RealVideo 8 in Macromedia products to reach RealPlayer users via RealSystem iQ, RealNetworks said in a statement.
