Liberate debuted its Liberate TV Producer Compact 1.1 authoring toolset, which will be made available for free to registered PopTV partners through its Web site.
The toolset promises to speed application development and extends the power of the Liberate TV Producer authoring line to the basic digital set-top box environment, including Motorola's DCT-2000 boxes, Liberate reports.
The toolset is designed to let content developers write Java technology-based applications for Liberate TV navigator Compact client software.
Liberate also released the Liberate TV Platform Standard 1.3, an upgrade comprised of open standards-based software for servers and set-top boxes. The system allows cable, digital terrestrial and satellite network operators to develop, integrate, deliver and manage ITV services, Liberate says.
New features include synchronized enhanced broadcast support, expanded enhanced TV services management for customized pricing models, enhanced security, and CORBA and XML-based server integration and provisioning tools for back-end systems.
