Operations support system (OSS) provider Sigma Systems is providing back-office automated provisioning for Terayon 's cable modem termination systems and cable modems used by broadband service providers world-wide.
Using Sigma's OSS Cable Broadband in a Box, the software supports flow-through service provisioning and activation for high-speed Internet, interactive TV services, video-on-demand and voice services.
According to Sigma, MSOs are finding that providing services beyond traditional video entertainment requires more complex equipment and processes.
"To provide high speed data, virtual private IP networks, interactive TV and telephony services, cable operators need an open, flexible architecture to handle activation and provisioning of these advanced services over their networks," said Sigma's director of business development, Joe Grubb, in a statement.
Sigma is supporting Terayon's TeraComm1000 S-CDMA system, and it is developing an architecture to support auto-provisioning on the DOCSIS cable modem platform.
