Motorola is teaming up with Irish Internet security company Baltimore Technologies to combine Baltimore's software with the U.S. group's mobile phones and other wireless devices.

The two companies hope the alliance will help Motorola's customers worldwide to benefit from the security and authentication features provided by Baltimore's wireless e-security technology.

The two companies also want to develop secure wireless solutions for devices ranging from phones and PDAs to next-generation personal "trusted" tools.

The technology would focus on the use of digital certificates, so users could order, purchase and complete transactions knowing their personal data is safe.
