IBEAM, DSLnetworks partner to provide streaming media performance

DSLnetworks and iBEAM Broadcasting are partnering to provide DSL connections to iBEAM's customers nationwide.

iBEAM customers requiring upstream broadband connectivity can now transfer their content to the iBEAM network using dedicated DSL connections supplied through DSLnetworks. iBEAM then serves content to end-users over its hybrid fiber and satellite network.

Both iBEAM and DSLnetworks use data center infrastructure provided by Exodus Communications. This makes establishing a connection between the two respective networks as simple as one Ethernet connection between iBEAM's application servers to DSLnetworks' access concentrators. Once content reaches iBEAM, the company uses its network to deliver streaming media to its Internet headends located in Internet access providers' networks. This infrastructure allows content to bypass the Internet, instead of using private, managed networks.
