The FCC has postponed the inquiry into requiring cable operators to allow Internet Services access to their pipes. The inquiry may launch in two weeks.

FCC Commissioner Gloria Tristani requested the postponement. Originally, she wanted the agency to put off the cable-access issue until after it had acted on the AOL-Time Warner merger, which is pending before the FCC and the Federal Trade Commission. Action on that merger is not expected before mid-October.
