With the fall TV season underway, Comcast issued a press release today touting its TV Everywhere capabilities, which now includes a Web portal just for the fall shows, but what was notable in the release was that so far this year, Comcast said its Xfinity TV customers have already watched and streamed approximately 1.5 billion TV Everywhere shows across on-demand, online and apps.
Comcast is covering all of the TV Everywhere bases.
Comcast was an early pioneer of the TV Everywhere concept back in 2009 when it joined forces with Time Warner. Since then, the nation’s largest cable operator has enabled multi-screen streams across computers and Android and Apple devices, as well as through its own Web portal. Comcast’s Xfinity TV apps for Apple and Android devices have been downloaded more than 6 million times to date.
In answer to Netflix, Comcast also rolled out Xfinity Streampix service, which lets triple-play customers stream TV shows inside and outside of their homes, earlier this year.
Comcast subscribers can also access early premieres of some shows before they appear on live TV, as well as “extras.”
Comcast has also worked on a suite of tools to help manage multi-platform viewing, which includes viewing tips, premiere schedules, interviews and news.
Online and through the Xfinity TV apps for Apple- and Android-powered devices, Comcast subscribers can also add TV shows to a personalized queue to watch later, search TV listings to find out when and where their favorites are airing across platforms, manage and schedule DVR recordings remotely, and use devices and PCs as a remote control to change the channel on the TV or switch between shows.
The fall TV Web portal added another layer to help customers find and manage their content across the various platforms and devices.

Comcast and its NBCUniversal division also reached new TV Everywhere heights with the 2012 London Olympics coverage earlier this summer.
