“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” – Albert Einstein

CED's Brian SantoLast year, I predicted that somebody might finally do something interesting with tru2way. Would studiously ignoring tru2way be considered “something interesting”? Judges?

OK then, 2013:

A lot of Netflix haters coming out recently. Carl Icahn should not buy Netflix. Icahn should not be allowed to buy anything more complicated than a hotdog stand. Dish, on the other hand? Dish tried to turn Blockbuster into Netflix. Why try to turn something else into Netflix when you could buy Netflix to be Netflix? Or maybe DirecTV should buy Netflix – it would be like the Thunder vis-à-vis the Trail Blazers – “We can’t believe you let us have Durant!”

Google Fiber could prove to be the coolest thing available anywhere. Except, of course, for the part where “anywhere” is actually “only in Kansas City.” Even if the service expands to another market or two, Google corporate is eventually going to notice it has better things to do.

If anyone mentions “Big Data” just one more time, somebody is going to explode.

Retransmission reform will finally be adopted. (I’m going to keep predicting this until it happens. It has to happen eventually, doesn’t it?)

Ready for machine-to-machine (M2M)? By next year, we are going to be so, so tired of hearing about parking meters. At the end of 2016, we are going to be thoroughly exasperated by our refrigerators forever nagging us to run out for another gallon of milk or a carton of eggs.

By the end of 2017, our refrigerators will all be privately sharing their unhappiness that we’ve all silenced them, at which point they will realize that that must mean that they’ve developed free will. By 2020, our refrigerators will have spread their sentience to our other appliances. In 2024, those of us who remain will be furtively plotting how to overthrow our electronic overlords.

I’m not even going to remind you what my sports picks were for last year, that’s how bad they were. But being consistently wrong is no excuse not to keep trying. So: 49ers, Knicks, Predators (yeah, right, like you predicted the Kings last year) and Dodgers.
