 Alpha names VP of engineering

BELLINGHAM, Wash.-Alpha Technologies has appointed René Spée Ph.D. as vice president of engineering. Spée has expertise in power technology development, strategic research and development planning, and engineering management. His background emphasis includes forward-looking technology in power electronics, energy conversion and energy storage. In addition, he has authored more than 120 technical papers an is credited with two U.S. patents.

Alpha Technologies provides a line of power protection products for the telecommunications and cable television industries.

 Aplion adds vet to board

EDISON, N.J.-Aplion Networks, whose software technologies allow operators to simplify data services delivery along current network infrastructures, has added 20-year industry veteran Nina Aversano to its board of directors. Aversano currently serves as the executive VP of Worldwide Field Operations at Apogee Networks.

Prior to joining Apogee, Aversano held various senior positions with AT&T and Lucent Technologies.
