With the continued growth in narrowcast services, such as high-speed data, HDTV, switched digital video and VOD, serving as the backdrop, cable operators are starting to conduct field trials of the Converged Cable Access Platform (CCAP). In conjunction with those trials, vendors are getting their product lineups set ahead of larger rollouts next year.
Once its deployed, CCAP will merge the functions of a CMTS and dense edge QAM into a single platform. The end game for the CCAP will be to implement all narrowcast and broadcast QAMs in a single RF port. Other benefits of CCAP include reduced rack space, reduced powering and energy consumption, improved redundancy across a converged services platform and a starting point to all-IP architectures.
In this free, live, 60-minute webcast, which is sponsored by ARRIS and Casa Systems and hosted by CED, attendees will learn some of the operational and training considerations that need to be looked at ahead of CCAP deployments.
Topics to be discussed include:
• An overview of CCAP
• The transition from lab trials to field trials and full deployment of
• Equipment considerations that won’t strand investments ahead of
• Planning for operational issues that could arise among the various converged services
