Preparing video for multi-screen delivery can tax both storage resources and the network capacity. Rather than store every piece of content in multiple delivery formats multiplied by all the possible bit-rates that video can be delivered in, operators can package video into a limited number of mezzanine files, which can then be repackaged in a manner appropriate for the particular viewing device and the network conditions at the time the video is requested.
