In an effort to keep its subscribers from churning away, Rogers Communications announced this morning that it would launch a customer loyalty program in key markets this summer. The program, which is called “Rogers First Rewards,” allows Rogers customers to earn points that can be redeemed online for discounts on Rogers’ products and services.
Charter Communications has wrapped up is $1.62 billion purchase of Cablevision’s Bresnan Broadband Holdings, which the latter called Optimum West. Britain's Vodafone PLC has launched a takeover bid for Germany's biggest cable operator, Kabel Deutschland, as part of its push to dominate media services in its biggest market. Vodafone, a British cellphone company with wide international interests, confirmed Monday it will offer 87 euros per share for Kabel Deutschland.
The MSO upgraded its VoiceZone Connect App, which now gives TWC phone subscribers access to their home phone service from almost anywhere, at anytime. Customers can now click-to-call outside of the home, enabling them to use their calling plans (including international calling plans), away from home.

John Malone’s Liberty Global announced this morning that it had completed its $24 billion deal to buy Virgin Media. Denver-based Liberty Global first announced it was buying Virgin Media in a stock and cash deal back in February. Dish Network has raised its bid for Clearwire to $4.40 per share, representing a 29 percent premium over the revised offer of $3.40 per share Sprint last week submitted to the internet wholesaler. The bid caused Clearwire’s stock to skyrocket in after hours trading.
Cisco Systems Inc. said Friday that it has completed a $310 million acquisition of Ubiquisys, a privately held cellphone technology company in the U.K. Cisco said that deal will combine the expertise of both companies to the benefit of service provider customers moving to next-generation radio access networks.
