Comcast has signed a new contract with CSG International that provides the cable operator with CSG’s residential billing services through June 30, 2019. While CSG has worked with Comcast for the past 20 years, the new contract provides the framework for Comcast to consolidate all of its residential business onto CSG’s billing platform.

DirecTV on Thursday reported profit that rose by 22 percent in its second quarter, helped by demand for World Cup soccer game coverage, and topped analysts' expectations. Cable industry pioneer Steve Simmons was elected to Cablevision’s board of directors effective immediately. Simmons joined the board as an independent director and his election increased Cablevision’s board to 18 members. Simmons, 68, has been chairman and chief executive officer of Simmons Patriot Media & Communications since 2002.

Charter Communications is looking to cross off the former Bresnan, and Optimum, systems from its all-digital checklist once the conversion kicks off in Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado. Charter’s stated goal is to have its all-digital upgrades completed across its entire 29-state footprint by the end of this year, with the former Bresnan systems scheduled for completion in November.

Family entertainment network INSP has added more than 140,000 new subscribers on multiple National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC) systems across the country. The results are in for Comcast’s first-ever The People’s hotlist voting campaign, which allowed Xfinity subscribers to vote for their favorite summer movies and shows on Comcast’s VOD platform. AT&T said it added 488,000 high speed Internet subscribers, including 55,000 business customers. The company said it also added 190,000 U-verse TV subscribers, for a new total of 5.9 million. That’s roughly on par with the number of adds in the last few quarters.
