Virgin Media is expanding its TiVo service with a mobile app that provides cloud-based access to live programming outside the home. The app works with Apple iOS-based mobile devices. The app will also enable Virgin Media subscribers to remotely manage their TVs.

ThinkAnalytics said it has grown its customer base by 75 percent in just the last six months, going from 20 to 35 clients, which together represent more than 80 million subscribers. The company did not identify its newest customers but said they include service providers in both Europe and North America.
UTStarcom Holdings said it has acquired a significant minority stake in aioTV. With its purchase of 44 percent of aioTV’s stock, UTStarcom becomes the smaller company’s largest investor. AioTV specializes in cloud-based video aggregation and distribution.

Bucking the trend of cable operators losing basic video subscribers, Suddenlink Communications actually added a total of 200 in the third quarter en route to chalking up some solid financial results. Suddenlink reported third-quarter revenues of $511.9 million.
Verizon Communications CFO Fran Shammo told analysts that the company is accelerating the deployment of its LTE network, which already has a wide lead over AT&T’s LTE coverage. Verizon Wireless now plans to complete its LTE rollout by the middle of next year.
AT&T will allow any customer with an LTE-capable iOS device on a tiered or shared data plan to use Apple's FaceTime video conferencing app over a cellular connection. AT&T had previously said it would only allow users who switched to the company's new shared data plans to access the app.
A California judge has rejected a request for a preliminary injunction against Dish Network's ad-skipping digital video recorder in a dispute that has pit broadcasters against a main distributor of their programming. The ruling was not released publically.
SeaChange racked up two more customers for its Adrenalin multi-screen video software, neither of which were identified beyond describing them as one North American and one Latin American service provider. One of the two also selected SeaChange’s Nitro multi-screen user experience software.

New and existing Time Warner Cable customers that sign up for Time Warner Cable’s voice, video and data services during the holiday offer get a $150 Best Buy gift card. The triple-play bundle starts at $89.99 a month and lasts for one year.
Many homes in AT&T's local phone service areas will see the company becoming more competitive with cable for broadband service under a new $14 billion, three-year investment plan the company revealed. But in more outlying areas, the company will start shifting customers from regular phone lines to wireless service.
The company, which offers broadband, digital phone, video and other services, said that net income rose to $67 million, or 7 cents per share, for the three months ended Sept. 30. That compares with net income of $20.4 million, or 2 cents per share, in the same period last year.
Charter Communications reported third-quarter revenue of $1.88 billion, slightly up from revenue in its Q3 a year ago, and a loss of $87 million, compared with $85 million a year ago. Residential video customers decreased by 73,000 in the third quarter.
Cablevision reported a third-quarter loss of $3.8 million on slightly higher revenue, compared with the similar period a year ago. Third-quarter net revenue grew 1.2 percent to $1.685 billion. The loss was attributed to higher expenses associated with restructuring and compensation, as well as larger expenditures on paying down debt.
DirecTV missed Wall Street's earnings estimates for the third quarter, which included a 10-day blackout of Viacom channels like Nickelodeon and Comedy Central. DirecTV said that it earned $565 million, or 90 cents per share, for the July-to-September period.
