Overture snags $8 million in funding
May 23, 2013 12:43 pm | by Mike Robuck | News | CommentsCarrier Ethernet vendor Overture Networks announced this morning that it had secured an initial equity investment of $8 million, with an opportunity to raise up to $11.7 million. Overture will also be opening two new development centers in Westford, Massachusetts and Bangalore, India to support its existing engineering team in its Research Triangle Park, North Carolina headquarters.
Optical packet equipment market booming in 1Q

Over the trailing four-quarter period, optical packet revenue grew 20 percent to $4.6 billion.
Spirent takes Casa’s CCAP on a test run

The Spirent TestCenter was used to validate routing performance, asymmetric throughput, latency and packet loss of Casa Systems’ C10G and C3200 platforms.
Service provider segment powers Cisco's Q2

Troy Cablevision's 100G network up and running

Using funding from the broadband stimulus – specifically the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) via the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 – Troy Cablevision installed Optelian’s MPX-9110 Flexible 100 Gbps Platform.

Samsung testing 5G 100 times faster than 4G

Samsung's transceiver transmits data in the millimeter-wave band at a frequency of 28 GHz at a speed of up to 1.056 Gbps to a distance of up to 2 kilometers.

Study: OTN switching ready for primetime

To wit: 86 percent of the service providers surveyed by Infonetics Research said they planned to deploy OTN switching. Packet-optical is a niche market today, representing only 10 percent of all optical spending, but by 2016 nearly all operator respondents want systems that integrate OTN switching and packet switching in the same platform
