Former TWC CTO LaJoie joins Envivio’s board

Frontier to take TiVo over-the-air

Frontier Communications will become the first service provider to offer TiVo’s Roamio DVR-based service over-the-air (OTA.) Starting mid-year, TiVo and Frontier will jointly market and deploy co-branded versions of TiVo’s whole home offerings and services, but the OTA element was designed for Frontier’s broadband customers that don’t subscribe to typical linear tiers.

TransGaming’s GameTree TV heads to Liberty’s Horizon TV

Ergen back as Dish’s CEO: Clayton to retire

Dish Network co-founder and Chairman Charles Ergen is returning to the helm of the satellite TV provider as the company faces declining subscribers and a changing pay-TV industry. CEO Joseph Clayton, 64, said Monday he will retire March 31. He had been CEO since June 2011 and also holds the president title.

Comcast revs up NASCAR coverage ahead of Daytona race

Ahead of Sunday’s Daytona 500, Comcast has added some NASCAR-related enhancements to its X1 operating platform as well new NASCAR VOD content. Comcast, which took over as the title sponsor of NASCAR back in September, also expanded its X1 Sports App to include scheduling information for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

ABC News app debuts on Xbox Live

Report: Global pay-TV market to grow 5 percent in 2014

While the final numbers are still pending, ABI Research said in a report that the worldwide pay-TV market was expected to grow 5 percent in 2013 while topping 924.4 million subscribers. On a global scale, IPTV is the driving force behind the increased in subscribers.

Cablevision, Discovery strike multi-platform distribution deal

Sling TV available to everyone, adds AMC Networks

As of today, Sling TV’s cord-cutting service is open for business to everyone, and it also announced that AMC Networks has joined its roster of content providers. Sling TV, a subsidiary of Dish, started out as an invitation-only offering when it was announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last month.
