Today, Genband launched a new white label cloud service, which is called “NUViA,” that it said will cut down on the amount of equipment service providers need to provision their services while also cutting down on time to market.

Sanjay Bhatia, director of product marketing for Genband, said NUViA could be used by service providers as a pay-as-you-grow business model to extend their services. Larger service providers with their own POPs could cut down the typical deployment cycle of 18 months to two years to as little as three to six months.

Service providers of all sizes can offer their own branded offerings, and the NUViA Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) offering includes HD voice, video, multimedia messaging, mobility, conferencing, Web collaboration, desktop clients, and fixed and mobile convergence.

Genband said its NUViA Rich Communications Suite (RCS) helps wireless operators to quickly take to market extensive multimedia communications services and experiences that go well beyond standard RCS capabilities for consumers.

"NUViA offers service providers a radically different model for deploying communications services from what is available today," said Jeff Townley, president of Genband's services business unit and global operations. "Service providers and channel partners can leverage NUViA's unprecedented deployment options, including hybrid models with the ability to augment the NUViA-delivered services with in-house applications, to deliver customers a unique, customized and cost-effective alternative to services derived from premises-based equipment."

Backed by Genband’s professional services organization, NUViA also provides management and administrative portals.

"A managed communication service in the cloud using Genband's carrier-class unified communications solutions is an attractive value proposition for service providers and channel partners searching for revenue-generating offerings for enterprise and consumer customers," said Elka Popova, program director at Frost & Sullivan. "Genband’s deep portfolio and the customization options available with NUViA enable a broad range of go-to-market service scenarios. Partners can offer a full cloud UC with on-premises SBC for security, seamless connectivity, optimal routing and network management; cloud business continuity as a back-up communication system activated on-demand in the event of disaster and on-premises failures; or hybrid deployments that provide mobility services overlays to on-premises PBX environments."

Genband has also unified its product lines, which were built by numerous acquisitions, under the “Making networks smarter” brand name. Product lines were divided up by Smart Core, Smart Edge and Smart Experience categories. Smart Core includes Genband’s IMS and VoLTE products and services; Smart Edge includes IP exchange, SIP trunking, peering interconnect and security; while Smart Experience was comprised of “smart office,” “smart home,” “smart life” and “smart everywhere.”
