Azuki, D-Link partner on OTT sidecar
D-Link is preparing to market to MSOs an over-the-top (OTT) set-top sidecar incorporating software from Azuki Systems that will assure the ability to distribute video to tablets, smartphones and other client devices.
D-Link's companion STBs (designated the DSM series) embedded with the Azuki Media Client are designed to help cable operators jump right into the TV Everywhere market, without major alterations in their headend or network configurations.
The two appear to be eying markets in the Far East. In addition to integrating Azuki’s client software in its boxes, D-Link also has secured rights to distribute Azuki’s Media Platform to system integrators and cable operators in Taiwan, Japan and China.
John Clancy, president and CEO of Azuki Systems, noted, "This exciting go-to-market and technology partnership comes at a time when TV cable operators are faced with increased competition, demand for multi-screens, and the prospect of a long and expensive journey to upgrade their systems to support TV Everywhere and IP content."
"Now TV cable operators don't have to rely on expensive infrastructure upgrades to become a powerful player in the multi-screen TV Everywhere market," said Eugene Yen, vice president of D-Link.
Both Azuki Systems and D-Link will be presenting at the upcoming Cable Show.
