ADB offers major revision of Commercial Video Solution

ADB announced several new products, leading with its first major revision of its Commercial Video Solution, the company’s system for supplying video to hotels, universities, hospitals, and other commercial businesses.

New to ADB’s Commercial Video Solution (CVS) version 2.0 is the ability for operators to manage their entire footprint of CPE devices from a centralized location, including provisioning, real-time monitoring, and reporting.

In addition, v2 offers the operator a CVS Cloud Hosting service, thereby reducing the operator’s OPEX costs.

“The feedback from our customers is that “CVS 2.0 is by far the best system of anything else available on the market today”. And now with v2, we are taking this to another level by moving the solution into a cloud-based environment that will enable smaller operators to have all the same cost-structure benefits that larger operators enjoy with this highly scalable solution,” said Chris Dinallo, SVP & GM US Cable Division at Advanced Digital Broadcast.

The company’s other introductions include set-top boxes and a gateway.

The QAM/IP headless gateway set-top box has multi-tuner capability. This STB configuration allows MSOs to deliver QAM content to DLNA enabled set-tops and CE devices within the home.

The Gateway-Lite, which ADB refers to as “Cloud-to-Ground,” is built for all-IP delivery to the home. With DOCSIS 3.1 optimized for video IP video delivery, MSOs can cost-effectively deliver their content distribution network (CDN) programs directly to all IP devices in the home, the company said.

ADB also announced its IP/MoCA client set-top box, called “Vision.” The Vision platform combines the cost-effectiveness of an all-IP decode customer premise solution with functions like home network support for DLNA capability.

ADB is also positioning Vision as a more capable alternative to DTAs. Larger MSOs find DTAs to be an adequate short-term solution, but many medium-sized and small operators find short-term investments too short-sighted. ADB argues that its Vision box is suitable for serving customers who might otherwise be supplied with a less capable DTA. The Vision offers a much better subscriber experience as well as two-way connectivity for the operator, ADB said.
