Imagine Communications has introduced a new software upgrade to its video processing system, adding a set of advanced redundancy features, already in use by Cogeco Cable.

Version 4.2 of Imagine’s ICE Video Platform aims to increase service resiliency with input source redundancy based on PID loss, service degradation and continuity count errors, the company said. It also provides a full mesh output for ensuring no one physical point of failure within the platform, and within the IP routing network moving video services both in and out of the platform.

The system now offers multi-codec and multi-screen audio and video transcoding, allowing service providers to receive content in any format and distribute in any format to any device over any service delivery network.

"At Cogeco, we consider it essential to have full-source redundancy," said Cogeco's senior director of digital video engineering Kevin Cuffling. "With Imagine's 4.2 release, we are able to seamlessly switch to a secondary source should the primary source be lost or even degraded."
