Aspera, Vidispine team up on content management

Aspera and Vidispine have integrated their respective products to create a system to rapidly create, transfer, manage, store and process audio-visual content.

There are bottlenecks inherent in legacy systems used to create, transfer, manage, store and process audio-visual content, the two companies explained.

Aspera specializes in easing and greatly accelerating the transfer of enormous files, including video. Vidispine has developed a software-based media asset management (MAM) system. The two are integrating the former’s high-speed fasp transfer SKD and Vidispine’s API MAM platform.

Aspera’s fasp transport supports all data, infrastructure and storage types, regardless of location, and transfers the largest files with maximum speed, regardless of network conditions.

Vidispine’s MAM system enables users to find and work with any type of media, from any repository, in any type of editor, with anyone, anywhere.

The combination delivers a complete media asset management backbone with all of the features and capabilities necessary to support the most complex workflows with flexibility and ease, the two said.

The platform SDK includes server-side components, Web applications, and mobile options enabling transfer to and from virtually any device.
