POWERING - DC power systems
CAMARILLO, Calif. – Power-One Inc . has announced the Guardian Series of DC power systems – 48 V solutions that are available in shelf, rack and cabinet configurations. Power densities exceeding 27 watts per cubic inch, or 25 kW per one rack unit, maximize the space dedicated to equipment, and/or batteries, in fixed and mobile networks.
All Guardian systems provide the capability to operate in environments with poor power-grid quality. Rectifiers feature a wide-range 90 to 300 VAC input with high-input-voltage shutdown and the ability to withstand a loss of phase or neutral without damage. Reliability is increased through the use of a resonant soft-switching topology, which significantly reduces rectifier component stresses, according to the company.
Power shelves are available from 150 to 500 amps in 2RU to 6RU heights. Rack and cabinet systems can deliver up to 500 amps with up to 720 Ah of backup battery capability. Medium and large power requirements are also supported with 1200 A per bay, up to 6400 A. A list of options includes low voltage battery/load disconnects and AC surge protection.
Additional features include: an intuitive user interface, system and site monitoring/control capabilities, and configuration via self-guided operation.

Cordless staple gun
SADDLE BROOK, N.J. – Arrow Fastener Company Inc . has introduced its CT50 Professional Cordless Staple Gun, which features a 10.8 V Lithium-ion battery pack. The staple gun shoots up to 1,500 staples per charge, and is reliable and accurate, according to the company. The battery pack is integrated into the unit’s profile, creating a balanced, manageable cordless staple gun.
The unit also includes a depth-of-drive control, which lets the user adjust for the material being stapled. A bright built-in LED guide light illuminates the work area and indicates exactly where the staple legs exit the stapler; and a staple supply window lets users know when they are running low on staples. The CT50 holds two full strips of Arrow T50 Staples, doubling the time between reloads.
In addition, a built-in battery meter indicates when it’s time to change or recharge the battery.

Spectrum analyzer for EMC
PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Saelig Co. Inc. has announced the HF-6080 spectrum analyzer, an EMC measurement device for evaluating emissions from 1 MHz to 7 GHz. The portable unit has a USB 2.0 interface, offering instant spectrum analysis and display with dynamic range from -90 dBm to +10 dBm, or to +30 dBm with an optional precision attenuator.
The unit’s built-in DSP allows fast FFT and DFT calculations for simultaneous frequency, spectrum and signal strength displays. A large FSTN display clearly shows measurement results; a bar-graph display showing signal strength automatically indicates exact frequency and signal levels for the strongest signal sources.
The HF-6080’s professional tripod socket enables accurate long-term emission recordings, according to the company. Now users can discover sporadic EMC problems that are otherwise very hard to detect. The integrated USB 2.0 interface allows PC-connection for en-hanced signal analysis and reporting.
