Atlantic Broadband first MSO to deploy TiVo’s Roamio
This morning Atlantic Broadband laid claim to being the first cable operator to offer TiVo’s Roamio DVR platform .
The six-tuner Roamio boxes, which will be leased by Altantic subscribers, launched today in Cumberland, M.D. with additional deployments slated this year in Miami and Aiken S.C. Atlantic Broadband, which was purchased by Cogeco last year , said additional markets will be added at the beginning of next year.
The service supports live, recorded and on demand video content across various screens. In addition to being able to record six shows at the same time, the T6 enables trick play on every TV in a home.
The platform also features a new “what to watch now” recommendation menu and the ability to stream to live TV to the devices in a subscriber’s home. If the content rights exist, video content can also be downloaded and watched outside of a home as well. The T6 platform also enables the viewing of web videos and apps such as Pandora, YouTube, Picasa, and AOL ON on TVs.

Atlantic is offering the TiVo service as part of its new double and triple play bundles at no extra charge. Atlantic’s bundle prices start at $99 a month. Existing Atlantic broadband DVR customers can upgrade to the new TiVo Service for $10 more per month.
