Adtec, Encompass team up on compression for MLB’s All-Star Game
Adtec Digital and Encompass Digital Media have partnered to provide compression solutions for next Tuesday’s Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game in New York City
Adtec said it would also provide compression, multiplexing and decoding for MLB Network’s exclusive telecast of the MLB All-Star Red Carpet Show earlier the same day.
“When Encompass was awarded the worldwide distribution services for MLB Network at the All-Star Game, it was essential to select a strategic partner with a proven track record. Given MLB Network’s technical requirements, Adtec was the perfect choice to fulfill all of the compression service needs,” said Greg Jennings, vice president of transportables and production services of Encompass.
Encompass is providing MLB Network with global distribution services via its New York, Stamford, Atlanta and Singapore facilities. The All-Star Game is being played at the Mets’ Citi Field.
“We will have 10 HD paths from Citi Field for the All-Star Game and four HD paths from Bryant Park for the MLB All-Star Red Carpet Show,” said Kevin Ancelin, senior vice president of sales and Adtec Digital co-founder. “Multiplexing will be done by the DTA-3050 and transmission will feed the live broadcast globally.
“Two dozen Adtec RD-60 IRDs will be used between both locations to provide broadcast quality confidence decoding of the local compression and for return paths from the studio to the event for both the Red Carpet Show and All-Star Game.”
Time Warner Cable announced last month that it was offering free access to all of its New York City-area hotspots during MLB’s All-Star Week.
