Comcast to build TV studio in Houston

Brian Santo

Comcast has decided to build a multimillion-dollar TV studio and production studio in Houston.

The facility in downtown Houston will house operations for Comcast SportsNet Houston, a partnership between basketball’s Rockets, baseball’s Astros and the NBC Sports Group.

The announcement was made by Houston Mayor Annise Parker and was reported by CultureMap [1].

That report quotes Matt Hutchings, Comcast SportsNet Houston’s president and general manager, saying that the group wanted to return to the roots of regional sports coverage, with a "boots on the ground" approach for increased investment in the local community.

The studio will create 125 media and technology jobs in downtown Houston.
