SCTE names finalists for Technology Challenge at Canadian Summit
The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) has named the five finalists that will compete in next month's Technology Challenge that will be held during the SCTE Canadian Summit in Toronto.
Alcatel-Lucent, Aurora Networks, Metaswitch Networks, NDS Group and RGB Networks will compete head-to-head in Technology Challenge, which is scheduled for March 27. The SCTE didn't say how many entries there were for the Technology Challenge, or how the finalists were selected, but participants needed to be Canadian Summit exhibitors, according to a spokesman.
Summit attendees will vote on the winner of the Technology Challenge via text messaging. The winner will be announced during a luncheon the same day.
"Continually-increasing consumer expectations are raising the bar for cable system operators, programmers and vendors," said Bruce Bondar, vice president, engineering for Access Communications Cooperative, Limited and co-chair of the Technology Challenge. "The solutions being presented by these Technology Challenge finalists are testaments to the innovative thinking that is helping our industry maintain its competitive edge by delivering the new services that our customers desire."
The SCTE Canadian Summit 2012 is scheduled for March 27-28. Both the Canadian Summit and a companion event, a pre-conference Wireless Symposium on March 26, will be held at the Toronto Congress Centre.
