Latisys adds Comcast's Metro Ethernet to Chicago data center
Comcast Business Services' Metro Ethernet service is now being offered by Latisys in the latter's Chicago-based data center.
By adding Comcast Metro Ethernet services, Latisys, a leading national provider of IT outsourcing solutions from data center colocation to cloud computing, expanded its redundant data center connectivity and can now provide customers with access to high-speed data transport and bandwidth scalability to accommodate business growth.
"More and more companies today are moving critical business applications and services to remote data centers to streamline operations and cut costs," said Jeff Buzzelli, vice president for Comcast Business Services in the greater Chicago area. "But in order to reap the productivity and cost benefits of doing so, companies must select a data center that offers a redundant and scalable network. Comcast said its Ethernet services, which were broadly launched last year , provide customers utilizing the high-density Tier III data center with a direct connection between their remote locations and Latisys' 147,000-square-foot, purpose-built facility designed to safeguard mission-critical data.
The end-to-end network connection gives Comcast's last-mile network diversity, as well as the redundancy needed to maximize network performance and availability.

With its Metro Ethernet offerings, Comcast can deliver bandwidth from 1 Mbps up to 10 Gbps that can be remotely scaled in increments of 1 Mbps, 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps, and it's offered with three different classes of service.
By using Ethernet-based technologies, business customers can scale their bandwidth requirements for cloud computing, business continuity, business process automation, software-as-a-service (SaaS) and other applications.
