Motorola Mobility's Jha to speak at Cable-Tec Expo
Motorola Mobility CEO and Chairman Sanjay Jha will share the stage at the next SCTE Cable-Tec Expo with Cox Communications President Pat Esser for a conversation on the future of cable telecommunications.
Jha, who drove the turnaround of Motorola Mobility's mobile device segment and now is building the combined Mobile and Home businesses, will discuss with Esser long-term approaches that will help operators meet the needs of residential and business consumers over the next five years or more.
The discussion will address the evolution necessary for cable networks to meet consumer demand, as well as the role that will be played by wireless.
The conversation will immediately follow Esser's welcome and opening remarks to Cable-Tec Expo attendees on Nov. 15.
"Consumers today desire content anywhere, anytime and on multiple devices," said Jha. "Cable subscriptions encompass much more than TV shows and movies in the living room, now expanding to home automation and security, live TV streaming to tablets, social TV capabilities, and smartphones becoming one's remote control. It's important that operators, vendors and programmers work together closely to develop, articulate and execute on the long-range vision that will help us meet consumer needs both inside and outside the home, as well as fulfill their desires to access the content they want."
"The next several years will see significant changes in the services and technical approaches that are offered by cable," said Mark Dzuban, president and CEO of the SCTE. "We're grateful to the CTO community – particularly Terry Cordova, Mike LaJoie and Tony Werner – and especially to Sanjay Jha and Pat Esser for the commitments they are making to create a session of unparalleled value for our attendees."
