Cox close to wireless launch in New England
Cox Communications will announce the launch of its wireless service in its New England market later this month.
According to a story on WPRI.com, which is based in East Providence, R.I. and owned by Lin Media, a Cox spokeswoman said there would be some activity in the Rhode Island market in regards to a launch next month.
A spokesman for Cox confirmed this morning that details of the wireless launch in New England would be forthcoming near the end of this month, but said no additional information was available at this time.
After some delays, Cox first launched its wireless service, which uses Sprint's 3G CDMA EVDO Rev A network, in November in Hampton Roads, Va., Omaha, Neb., and Orange County, Calif., all of which were previously trial markets for the service.
Cox said last month that its wireless offering would be rolled out in Oklahoma City and Tulsa , but still hasn't said when the wireless service would go live in Oklahoma or what the prices will be for the different tiers of service.
At the start of this month Stephen Bye left his position as senior vice president of Cox's wireless division to work for Sprint .
